Jerry Reakes-Williams
I was elected as an Elder in November 2007, having stood down in 2005 for family & personal reasons. I have particular responsibilities that include Mission and the search for a new meeting place with the school where we currently meet due to close in 2009.
Yes, I married Alison in 1990.
We have three children, aged between 15 & 9.
I am a Police Officer in Worcester.
I was brought up in a Christian home and my parents, who lived in various countries in Africa & the Pacific, always took us to church. That gave me a good basic understanding of the Bible and Christian doctrine. But it was when I was 11 years old, through a Christian group at boarding school, that I first properly understood that Jesus died for me personally and I set out to try to serve Him.
I enjoy watching & playing sport, particularly Football & Cricket. I am a passionate supporter of Shrewsbury Town and have successfully indoctrinated my son. I also enjoy walking, much to the disgust of my children.
I only really get to watch the News & Match of the Day. I also enjoy the Nature programmes.
To show people in our local communities that the Christian faith is relevant in 2008, that a relationship with Jesus Christ is life-changing and brings hope and peace as well as many challenges. To see, in Gods timing, Manor Park plant other Bible believing churches in Worcestershire.
I really dont listen to music, though I do enjoy listening to my daughters playing the piano & flute and my son chanting Shrewsbury Town football songs (the clean ones!) can sometimes be amusing!
Romans 8, 28-39. What an awesome God we serve.
A difficult choice between the South Island of New Zealand (Doubtful Sound) and the wonderful Fiji Islands, where I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood.
